AutoPacific Forecasts Healthy, Profitable Year for Automakers
AutoPacific today officially announced its forecast for 2013 U.S. light vehicle sales. Predicting about a 700,000 unit increase over 2012, AutoPacific forecasts a year-end total of 15.1M units. “Many automakers have right-sized their manufacturing to be profitable at a total light vehicle industry size of 15M annual sales,” said Ed Kim, AutoPacific’s Vice President of Industry Analysis. “With 2013 expected to hit this level of sales, the year should prove to be a healthy and profitable one for many automakers.”

Recently Released AutoPacific Survey Polls 25,000 Tire Buyers for Most Satisfying Tire Brand
Michelin is the most satisfying tire brand for second year in a row, according to AutoPacific’s Replacement Tire Buyer Dynamics and Satisfaction Study, followed by Pirelli, Goodyear, Nitto and BF Goodrich. AutoPacific surveyed over 25,000 vehicle owners who bought replacement tires over the past twelve months. The study was used to determine what is important when choosing a replacement tire and which tire brands provide the most satisfying experience. In addition the research reveals insights on brand awareness, familiarity, brand image, and influencers on the purchase decision.

Do Fuel Prices Really Affect Vehicle Purchase Intentions?
Drivers today are shelling out $3.97/gallon, on average, to fill up their vehicles, about 32 cents more than this time last year. But this added expense is not persuading consumers to ditch their SUVs for more fuel efficient small cars. Results from AutoPacific’s latest Fuel Price Impact Survey (FPIS) actually show SUVs being the top vehicle replacement choice, with small cars coming in third. In addition, 76% surveyed would replace their current vehicle with a similarly sized one, whereas only 18% say they would go smaller.

experience. The top satisfying Tire Retailer nationally is Goodyear Auto Service Center, closely followed by Firestone Complete Auto Care, Les Schwab Tire Centers and Sam's Club.
